About The Client
LGA, LLP, is an independent CPA and business consulting firm based in Massachusetts. In 2022, Forbes listed the company as one of the best tax and accounting firms in America. They offer outsourced accounting, tax preparation, consulting, valuation and assurance, among other services. They are also a proud member of Russell Bedford International (RBI), one of the top 20 global networks for accounts and consultants.
The Challenge
In 2021, near the peak of the global pandemic, LGA, LLP completed a merger with ALL CPAs, a top-rated CPA and advisory service firm. They did not want a recent merger and the realities of remote work to dampen their already rock-solid culture. They needed a more effective way to communicate and collaborate online, especially as new employees joined the organization from different time zones.
The Solution
The company’s Culture and Engagement team researched their options for community-oriented intranets. After considering several platforms, they discovered PeopleOne.
Following opening discussions with the company, Coventus’s team created a detailed analysis of LGA, LLP’s tech stacks. From the analysis, the Coventus team found several opportunities to improve LGA, LLP’s communication, engagement, cultural reach, and employee experience.
Communication
During the pandemic, LGA, LLP employees worked remotely. As the pandemic eased, the company switched to a hybrid model. The PeopleOne mobile app kept employees connected, whether they worked from home or in the office. The leadership team used PeopleOne’s front-page modules to share important announcements and updates. Other modules allowed employees to book lunch orders through a survey, receive “Welcome Aboard” messages upon joining, and start their own discussions in the community forums.
By customizing PeopleOne to match their way of working, LGA, LLP created an inclusive environment for new and veteran employees alike. Embracing their intranet led to improved post-merger retention and collaboration.
Engagement and Culture
After the merger, leadership sought to align everyone with the organization’s culture and values. PeopleOne allowed better knowledge sharing between departments, as employees could quickly share documents through a Microsoft SharePoint integration.
Additionally, employees could now send birthday wishes and thank coworkers for their contributions using a ”kudos” feature. The organization strengthened morale by using features that directly and consistently connected leaders and employees.
User Experience
LGA, LLP’s leadership team cited PeopleOne’s intuitive user interface as a key reason for its quick adoption. Easily accessible on desktop or mobile, employees could access the intranet anywhere, anytime, and on any device.
Deployment
Since LGA, LLP already used the Microsoft 365 suite, PeopleOne’s Microsoft-friendly environment made for an easy setup. PeopleOne integrated seamlessly with the company’s existing Active Directory and Microsoft infrastructure. The intranet platform went live with a pilot group of users in just one week, allowing the company to test and gather input from select employee groups before rolling it out to all staff members. The platform was made available to all employees within two weeks of the initial deployment.
PeopleOne became the focused hub for interaction among the employees. With content schedule options, everyone from the management to the employees was able to push fresh content everyday which led to increased employee engagement.
Support
After deployment, LGA, LLP underwent onboarding training sessions to ensure staff members could use the platform. To ensure smooth adoption, the company scheduled frequent meetings with the Coventus team. They also requested additional customizations, which were implemented in one week.
